Olaf Ulbricht (1951) is a German naïve painter and woodcarver whose art is deeply influenced by his travels and his life in the wine village of Vendersheim, Rhineland-Palatinate. Working with acrylics on wood, he enhances his paintings with repeated lacquer finishes that give the colors a luminous, almost water-reflected brilliance, while incorporating the natural grain of the wood into each piece. Over time, his works have become more colorful, detailed, and narrative, evolving from whimsical floating scenes to storytelling compositions filled with recurring characters such as musicians, farmers, lovers, and lantern bearers. These figures, slightly varied over the years, have grown into his unmistakable signature style, delighting admirers with their charm and the cheerful, timeless worlds he creates.
