Luis Joaquin Rodriguez Arias

Born in 1942 in Herrera, Holguín, Cuba, this artist transforms everyday life into vibrant poetry. Once a baker, he brings the same care and rhythm of his craft to painting each canvas rising with color, warmth, and memory.

As President of the Bayate Group and a member of the Unión Nacional de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba (UNEAC), he stands at the heart of Cuba’s naive art movement. His works, like El tren de la mañana (“The Morning Train”), celebrate the harmony between people, land, and tradition. Rolling hills, palm trees, and morning light embrace villagers at work and play each detail painted with love for his homeland.

Through his art, he invites us to see Cuba not just as a place, but as a song of community, joy, and enduring spirit.
