About Lucia Boccini

Lucia Boccini is a Brazilian artist with a unique background. Born and raised in a village near Belo Horizonte, the capital of Minas Gerais, she lived a quiet rural life and worked for many years as a secretary before discovering her passion for painting later in life. Today, she is known for her meticulous detail and vibrant depictions of the villages and landscapes surrounding Belo Horizonte. One of her signature techniques is the triptych: panoramic scenes painted across three panels, displayed with small gaps between them to enhance both depth and detail. These large, labor-intensive works can take five to six months to complete and are highly prized, often selling for $8,000 to $12,000. Boccini’s art, like that of other Brazilian naïve painters such as Mara Toledo, Anambari Diaz, Edealdo, and Barbara Rocchlitz, reflects a deep connection to the land, rural traditions, and the beauty of everyday village life.
